Problems like these are exactly the reason why you should look into Business Process Outsourcing solutions. Not only will you save your company from possible financial drought and ruin, you will also solve a problem that is always recurring, but has never been solved. To easily detect your need for Business Process Outsourcing, your problems should be conveniently divided into two: internal and external problems.

BPO Solutions for Internal Problems

Internal problems include accounting, payroll, financing, and billing functions. If you are having problems regarding the proper and systematic payment of your employees, then it might be a good option to look into specialized BPO.

Some companies think that a thorough reorientation and training of their audit and accounting officers can easily solve this business process problem. They only realize the gravity of the problem once it becomes so severe and hard to solve altogether.
Faced with such a problem, your organization should look into Business Process Outsourcing solutions that will effectively target your need for a systematic payroll system or audit proceedings. There are actually BPO companies that are better at this than your organization. It’s a matter of finding the right organization for the right business function.

BPO Solutions for External Problems

External problems include customer care service or technical support functions. Most organizations have a hard time finding customer care specialists who are both compassionate and knowledgeable about their services. Again, it requires a huge investment on the part of their companies, since they still have to train such employees. Also, the training sometimes does not pay off when customers are still discontent with the service anyway.

Business Process Outsourcing solutions could be your recourse if your problem is as crucial as this. The solutions offered by BPO companies are both inexpensive and integral. There are many call center companies that can thoroughly train and orient their employees as to the products and services your organization offers. You don’t have to invest time and effort in actually training your employees, when you can have another company actually solve the problem for you.

Prioritizing BPO Solutions

The presence of organizational problems is forever. Business Process Outsourcing solutions account for some of the many solutions you can choose to solve those problems—be it external or internal. In the end, it’s a matter of prioritizing which problems you should solve through BPO solutions. After all, not all of your internal and external problems could—and should—be solved by Business Process Outsourcing alone. Before choosing BPO, make sure that you have carefully considered all your options. GP

Before you get carried away by all the hype about how great business process outsourcing is, ask yourself: what problems can business process outsourcing do to my organization? Hiring Business process outsourcing companies to do your organizational tasks is no joke, and can radically transform your organization. Therefore, you should weigh the benefits versus the costs of outsourcing.

Job Losses and Unemployment

What would your employees feel if a colleague from another department gets laid off because of outsourcing? This picture has been rather prevalent among organizations resorting to offshore outsourcing. In a manner of speaking, business process outsourcing companies take away the jobs of many employees in an organization.

These job losses are especially common in the US, as many companies are now turning into outsourcing as a way of cutting their costs and speeding up their work. If these job losses are sewn together, one can say that outsourcing has in a way threatened the economic stability of countries like the US. This is especially true for white collar jobs. Before looking into outsourcing as a viable option for your company, ask yourself: will it cause massive job losses and resentment toward my organization?

Lack of Efficiency

When you outsource, you are literally letting these business process outsourcing companies take over a particular task that your organization usually performs by itself. Yes, doing so may increase organizational efficiency, but it can also backfire and cause decreased efficiency.

For instance, letting a third-party company take over a particular business function may result to a systematic failure. The employees inside the organization may resist the change that is happening. Instead of helping, they result to deliberately sabotaging the organization. This is definitely a possible problem that outsourcing can create.

Intrusion of Privacy

Once you let business process outsourcing companies work on your organization’s tasks, you will inevitably have to share to them private pieces of information. Information you will have to disclose to them may include sensitive ones. These include information on your employees’ demographics, new products, and planned services.

Because you will have to let other companies intrude in your organization’s privacy, you better make sure that you hire an outsourcing company that you can trust. Make sure that the organization is credible. Building trust with another organization may take considerable time.

Make sure you don’t readily disclose information without asking why the outsourcing company needs it for. Remember not to hand information without knowing why it is needed by the BPO company in the first place. GP

Considered one of the monumental breakthroughs of the late 90’s, Business Process Outsourcing is celebrated and used by many organizations nowadays. Despite its relative popularity, though, not many people understand exactly what BPO is. More and more companies are using BPO, and yet few of them understand what it really is. Therefore, a clear definition and illustration of what it can do for companies and global trade is necessary.

What is it?

If you break down the term Business Process Outsourcing, you are left with two important terms: Business process and outsourcing. Business process refers to tasks important in fulfilling the business function of an organization, such as the human resources, payroll, and finance functions. These are only some of the business processes important in all organizations. The other term, outsourcing, refers to using another company to handle certain activities of an organization. In BPO, the basic idea is that you get another company to handle and manage business activities previously stated.

Why does it work?

Globalization is—and it continues to be—a major catalyst and change agent in most organizations. Because of globalization, companies now have to work at a pace many times faster than organizations before our time. Companies right now cannot afford to take one step at a time, because doing so may drastically destroy an organization.

This is where the importance of Business Process Outsourcing comes in. BPO lets another company do certain business functions that are not that critical in the overall operation. Hence, an organization can go on and focus on more important tasks that can make itself grow. An example would be the outsourcing of customer care functions. By outsourcing the job to call center companies, you don’t have to worry about rigidly training and orienting employees about how to answer common questions of customers. After all, call center companies will do all the training and orientation for you.

How is it different from others?

You should note the distinction Business Process Outsourcing has with other outsourcing activities. One such comparison is with IT Outsourcing. BPO is different from it in such a way that the former deals with activities not essential and fundamental to the main goals or the core product of the organization.

For example, customer care outsourcing is not something that deals with the production of the organization’s output. Rather, it deals with the maintenance of the product and ensuring the stability of such. On the other hand, IT is more focused on the production of the company’s output. Note the inherent and obvious differences between the two, to avoid mistaking one concept for the other. GP
